Dang, it’s hot!

BKGD invites you to come and cool off with your fellow environmentalists at Franklin Park, one of Brooklyn’s most unique bar and garden spaces. Built from the rubble of an old mechanic’s garage, this local watering hole boasts two separate bars and welcomes guests with its lush furnished yard. Cool your parched throat with one of the many beers on tap and bond with your fellow urban tree huggers over a friendly game of skee-ball or foosball.

We look forward to sweating you… umm, I mean, seeing you there!

Flatbush Farm & The Bar(n) in Prospect Heights

June 16, 2010
7:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Summer is in full swing, and the farmers’ markets are calling. In homage to this season’s local Brooklyn bounty, we are holding our June event at Flatbush Farm & Bar(n), a gastronomic tavern that employs sustainable agriculture and seasonal local ingredients.

Wet your whistle at The Bar(n) with one of the nineteen seasonal beers, including four local brews on tap, or choose from a list of unique and extraordinary wines from the area. For those feeling fancy in their organic summer threads, cool down with a creative seasonal cocktail, such as this summer’s mixology masterpiece, the Garden Snake with organic gin, cucumber juice, thai basil and lemon soda. Network and unwind with your fellow environmentalists in the spacious rustic interior or on the patio outfitted with outdoor ovens. We look forward to seeing you there!

Der Schwarze Kölner in Fort Greene

March 24, 2010
7:00 pm to 10:00 pm

What better way to welcome sobriety back, after a week of post-St. Patty’s Day (the *other* “green” drinks) hangover, than to booze it up once more? Only this time, instead of green paper hats, you’ll have green-minded Brooklynites. Don’t worry, the beer’ll be the same.

For our March event, we’re checking out Fort Greene’s new beer garden, Der Schwarze Kölner. With long tabled communal seating, this chess-floored beer hall makes it easy to get to know your fellow Green Drinkers. But don’t let that distract you. Boasting eighteen taps of German’s finest, a selection of almost twice that in bottles, and one of the only spots in town to serve organic Bionade (if you’re going non-alcoholic), owners Dale Hall and Randi Lockemann weren’t kidding around when they opened up shop at this choice corner of Fulton and Greene. They even squeezed in some tasty German cuisine, from pretzels, to sausages, to cheeses.
